Small Title

Pastor Edgar J. Butler, Sr.

Pastor Edgar Butler, Sr. is a steadfast and compassionate servant leader whose life reflects strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to the people of God. A man of prayer, purpose, and principle, he has dedicated his ministry to nurturing souls, mentoring leaders, and advancing the Kingdom with both spiritual power and practical wisdom.

Pastor Butler was baptized in the name of Jesus on April 19, 1991, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost on January 24, 1993, under the anointed leadership of the late Pastor Annie M. Wood at Emmanuel Assembly Church of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.). As the first in his family to receive the Holy Ghost, he boldly embraced the Apostolic faith. He stands firmly on the biblical foundation that there is “One Lord, one faith, one baptism; One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:5–6). He believes in water baptism in Jesus’ Name, the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, and remains fully committed to the Apostolic doctrine.

Called to ministry in October 1994 while attending Emmanuel Assembly Church, Pastor Butler served under two pastors, the late Pastor Annie M. Woods and District Elder Darryll Jackson. During his tenure, he embraced numerous leadership roles, including Sunday School Superintendent,  Usher Board President , Church Secretary,  Church Trustee, and Church Treasurer. He also served faithfully in various church auxiliaries, including the Brotherhood Choir, Children's Ministry, Outreach Ministry, and more.

Furthermore, Pastor Butler was a licensed Minister under the World Assemblies of Restoration (WAR) under the Presiding Bishop James D. Nelson, Sr.. later licensed as an Elder in the P.A.W., and ultimately ordained under the Apostolic Faith Fellowship International (AFFI) by Presiding Bishop Charles E. Johnson, Sr.

Obeying the direction of the Lord, he transitioned to Greater Morning Star Apostolic Ministries (GMSAM) under Bishop Charles E., Johnson, Sr. where he completed the Evangelical Training Association (ETA) at GMSAM Bible Institute Course. In 2009,  he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Word of Faith Christian College and Graduate School under Dr. Larry Fraizer. His strong biblical foundation, coupled with a professional background in accounting, enables him to serve with clarity, integrity, and administrative excellence.

For over twenty years at GMSAM, Elder Bulter grew profoundly in faith, love for God's Word, and passion for evangelism. He served diligently as a member of the Ministerial Congress, a co-director, Mentor, and Teacher in the Youth Training Ministry, and a committee member of the Prayer-Line Ministry. He taught weekly Bible classes at Deanwood Rehabilitation & Wellness Center, and served as the Lead Minister for the First Sunday Outreach services, and supported monthly outreach at Fort Lincoln Senior Building, Shepards's Cove Homeless Shelter, and Veterans on the Rise, bringing the Gospel to those who are often forgotten.

On September 24, 2024, the Lord released Elder Butler from GMSAM. On October 25, 2024, Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Ministries (GEAM) was birthed by the leading of the Holy Ghost. Today, Pastor Edgar Butler, Sr. serves as the founder and pastor of GEAM, laboring to transform lives through the preaching and teaching of God's Word.

Pastor Butler's mission is clear: to preach, to teach, to equip, to empower, and to mature believers for the work of the ministry, leading souls into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

He is joyfully united in marriage to Evangelist Penny Butler, his partner in life and ministry for over 30 years. Together, they are blessed with two sons, Edgar Jr. and Joseph, who carry forward the spiritual legacy of their home.
